Operator Series #2: Performance. It's a challenge. How to maximize it.

Fast food's most important asset is also its most challenging: labor.
Any QSR operator will tell you that. More specifically, operators today want to maximize performance, how can you get the most out of your employees while they're on the clock?
It's one of the oldest problems in the industry. And until now, there hasn't been a clear solution.
About That… The Reality of QSR's Labor Pool
To understand why these performance challenges exist, you need to take a step back. Look away from the operation itself and instead focus on the lives of your employees.
Most of the time, the people in your operation are either teenagers or young adults. Someone earning minimum wage or close to it, working their first job or using it to get through school. Someone with a lot on their mind things that have nothing to do with suggestive selling or service speed.
That's not a criticism. It's just the reality of the labor pool QSR runs on.
Most employees don't see the front line as a career it's a job. They're showing up, doing what's asked, and moving on. In that environment, driving performance above the minimum is genuinely hard. Operators feel it every single shift.
Instinct says push harder. More training. New targets. Sharper debriefs. These things help, but none of them guide in the moment. And the moment is where everything happens.
How to Move the Needle
To enable employee success, you need 3 things. Right now, operators don't have any of them.
You need a tool that boosts performance in real time. Something that works at the POS. Keeps up with the rush. Something that can be consistent, regardless of who's on shift.
You also need a reliable way to measure that performance. When operators manage their employees by instinct, performance planning becomes guesswork. Accountability fails. Real data turns a vague performance conversation into a specific, actionable one.
Most importantly, you need a model for motivation. When team members are granted visibility into how their performance compares to their peers, performance targets don't stay abstract. They become personal. The gap between where they are and where the top performer is becomes something they can actually see, and beyond that, actually close.
That's what Vavoom brings to the floor. Performance-enhancing guidance at the POS. Individual performance data that gives managers proper context. A live benchmark that gives every team member a reason to push a little harder.
The labor challenge in QSR isn't going away. But managing it by feel doesn't have to be the only option.
