Throughput vs Upsell: How Operators Should Think About the Tradeoff

A false tradeoff
Operators are often told to choose between fast service and high order values, as if the two naturally pull in opposite directions. In well-designed systems, they do not have to.
The tradeoff only appears when upsell logic is blind to queue conditions. A framework that adjusts suggestion frequency to lane time protects speed during a rush while still capturing value when the lane is calm.
Building a queue-aware framework
Start by mapping current suggestion frequency against queue length by daypart. Most operators find their upsell rate is already highest exactly when it should be lowest.
